Paulo Villa of Cambridge

Paulo Villa of Cambridge, ON, captured this image of colour pencil shavings with a Nikon D7200 and a Micro NIKKOR 85 mm f/3.5 lens, shooting at 1/6 second, f/8, ISO 100. “I emptied the contents of a pencil sharpener onto a black cardstock and shot 15 images which were focus stacked using Photoshop.”

Ann Badjura, of Vancouver, took this photo of the beautiful tulip fields at the Lakeland Flowers U-Pick Farm in Abbotsford, British Columbia with a Sony a77ii and 16-50mm lens, at 1/160 second f/8, ISO 100.

Jason Pettit, of Prince Edward County Ontario, captured this intimate scene of a mature Hard Maple tree at dawn with a Nikon Z6 and 14-30mm F4 S lens, shooting at 14mm, f/8, 1/25 second, ISO 100. “I shot this so the sun would skim the textures of the bark, leaving the grooves dark and highlighting the small grouping of plants at the tree’s base.”

Ray Strickland, of Scotsburn, Nova Scotia, captured this evening image of a stunt plane carrying fireworks flying over the Ship Hector during the Pictou Lobster Carnival. “I used a Nikon D300s set to manual exposure, with an 11-16mm f2.8 lens set at 11mm, f/8, 120 seconds, ISO 200.”

Eric Rossicci, from Vancouver, British Columbia, captured this image of two Bald  Eagles chasing each other with a Canon 1DX Mark II and a 500mm lens with 1.4 extender, shooting at 1/200 second, f/8, ISO 200. “I darkened the background to add some drama to this image with ACDSee Photo Studio Home”

Sinisa Popovic, of Whitby, Ontario, used a Nikon D5600 with 70-300mm lens at 300mm, shooting at f/6.3, 1/1000 second, ISO 900 to capture this image. “When I finally managed to get out for a walk that evening it was already very dark and cloudy. I almost left my camera at home. It’s good I didn’t. Despite the low light conditions, I was able to take a nice photo of this wonderful Wood Duck.”

Terry Graham, of Beaconsfield, Quebec, captured this image of the Sainte Anne de Bellevue Boardwalk and Locks at the west end of the Island of Montreal. “To get an overall shot, this was taken high above the locks on the bridge that leaves the island. The camera was a Nikon D300 with a 17-55/2.8 lens. The camera was converted to infrared (850nm) by Life Pixel in the United States. The image was captured at 17mm, shot at 1/800 second, f/8, ISO 400.”

Andre Secours, from Kitchener, Ontario, took this image at Ruthven National historic site with a Nikon D4S and 14-24mm lens at 14mm, shooting at f/5.6, 3 seconds, ISO 100. “I took this photo a few days prior to the covid restrictions. I used a tripod set as low as possible and aimed alongside the stairs looking up.”
