Autumn Milkweed…

Linda Witteveen Captured this image in Monetville, Ontario of a milkweed pod with a maple tree in the background using a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 104mm Macro lens, f/5.6, at 1/22 second., ISO 100.

Lighthouse – Cape Bonavista, NL

Harold Feiertag of Kingston, Ontario, captured this image of a lighthouse at Cape Bonavista, Newfoundland. The camera and lens for this capture were a Nikon D610 and f/2.8 15-30mm Tamron, f/11, 30mm, 1/400 second at ISO 200.

Neon Allium

Debbie Oppermann of Guelph ON captured this brilliant neon purple Allium with neon green background, which glows with intensity in this macro image, with a Canon 80d and the EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM lens, shooting at 1/125 second, f/2.8, ISO 100. “The Allium or Ornamental Onion has round ball shaped flowerheads with star like clusters of flowers. They make a dramatic statement in the gardens and can be left with the dried seed heads as they look quite attractive or they can be cut for arrangements”.

~* Tickle me neck *~

Darrell Colby of London, Ontario, took this photo at a city park where neighbors had grown their own tomatoes and various flowers such as Sunflowers and Cosmos flowers. This was ripe of course for bees, goldfinches and monarch butterflies to visit and do their thing. “The opportunity was exciting to just let them come to me in this garden and photographic paradise among the sunflowers and cosmos flowers. I used my trusty Canon 7d Mark 2 camera along with my 100mm to 400mm lens at 227mm, f/14, 1/250 second, ISO at 400 to capture this adoring monarch butterfly as it rested upon the neck of a very well-lit sunflower. I call this photo “Tickle Me Neck ” which I believe is a saying I heard several years ago in Jamaica, meaning that someone is happy to see you or happy to do or receive something.”

Extreme Eagle

Andre Secours, from Kitchener Ontario, captured this stunning image with a Nikon D4s and a 70-200 2.8 mm lens. “This photo of the eagle was taken at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy in Southwest Ontario. The background was imported from another file to create a dramatic effect.”

Vatican Museums

Paul LeRoux of Vancouver, BC, captured this photo of the modern Bramante staircase at the Vatican Museums with a Nikon D300 and the Nikon 18-200mm lens shooting at f/3.5, 1/30 second. ISO 800. “I always enjoy this famous double-helix staircase and this time I tried to photograph it off-centre for a different feel of the visitors’ movements.”

“Night Light” – Black and white lighting strike.

Patrick Kavanagh of Taber, AB, photographed this lighting strike with a Nikon D7100 and 11-16mm lens, shooting at 16mm, f/4, 30 seconds, ISO 100 and auto White Balance. “With 4 lighting storms all around me on this night, this location at our local Troup Pond was perfect”.

Autumn Colours at Shanty Bay

Linda Witteveen, of Ingleside, Ontario, captured this image with a Nikon D7100 and a Tamron 18-270 mm lens, on a tripod, shooting at f/9.0, 1/60 second, ISO 100. “It was a lovely October morning with the Autumn colours at their best and the mist on the lake that I needed to capture this image. I shot this on Shanty Bay located on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing in The French River District.”
