Capture Oakville 2014 Launches with a $1000 Grand Prize

Capture Oakville Photography Competition returns with all new categories and a $1000 cash grand prize.

“We’re really excited about Capture Oakville this year with great categories including the namesake of the competition Capture Oakville, Portrait, Tell a Story, Black and White, Motion, Smartphoneography, and Film and polaroid, “ said Oakville Camera Club President William Smith. “The deadline is coming up fast on October 6 but there’s still time to create a winning entry or seven winning entries.”

Capture Oakville is the only category that needs to be shot in Oakville all the other ones are constrained by the limits of the photographers imagination. New this year is Smartponeography with the rise of smart phone cameras as well as Film and Polaroid with the recent analog photography revival.

The grand prize is $1000 cash with category prizes ranging from Henry’s gift cards and lots of photography related products.

The submission deadline is Monday October 6, via the Oakville Camera Club Competition page with instructions for online payment. Those chosen to exhibit will be contacted asked to submit a print. The top 80 photographs will be framed and exhibited in the main Gallery at Queen Elizabeth Park Community Cultural Centre starting Friday December 5 with the awards ceremony and opening night reception.
