Exascend memory cards are now available in Canada

Exascend

Exascend is one of the most exciting start-ups in the highly competitive flash media industry. Established in 2016, their name signifies the fusion of “exabyte” and “ascend,” encapsulating their commitment to propelling capacities into the exabyte era and beyond. Their team had a vision of being a better storage provider than the big players that had taken over the market. This is a success story that is now reaching Canada. Amplis Foto is proud to be the selected partner for Exascend in Canada.

Exascend is an engineering-driven leader in cinematography and photography flash storage solutions, providing products designed for true cinematography professionals. Exascend memory cards offer faster read and, more importantly, write speeds than the competition at lower price points. Exascend offers their own memory cards – designed and manufactured in-house – not fancy label copies of somebody else’s products.

Modern cameras have higher megapixel sensors that require larger capacity memory cards that write data at extremely high speeds. Video places higher demands on memory cards as some cameras now shoot 8K RAW video. This is where Exascend cards excel.

For instance, the Nikon Z8 is a 48MP mirrorless camera that can capture 8K RAW video. This camera uses the newest CFexpress Type B memory card. Compare your options below:

Brand and ProductCapacityMax Write SpeedMax. Read SpeedPrice (CAD)
SanDisk Extreme PRO512GB1,400MB/s1,700MB/s$650
Lexar Pro CFexpress GOLD512GB1,500MB/s1,750MB/s$570
Exascend Essential512GB1,400MB/s1,800MB/s$419
Sony CFexpress Tough512GB1,480MB/s1,700MB/s$940
Exascend Nitro512GB1,700MB/s1,850MB/s$829

The first three cards are standard CF-Express Type B – fast and reliable cards. These cards are for most photographers and cinematographers. The last two cards fall under the “Tough” category – IP67 weather resistance, more robust construction and thermal efficiencies built-in. These are for photographers and videographers that put their gear through the wringer.

Exascend offer much higher write speeds and higher read speeds. Write speeds are the most important – this is how fast your camera can write data to the card. Read speeds are less important as this is the maximum speed your data can be read from the card to your computer. Average speeds are usually much lower than listed maximum speeds, but Exascend lists sustained speeds.

Another huge advantage is the Exascend warranty. Most cards, including Nitro and Essential, are covered by a five (5) year warranty against manufacturer’s defects. Nitro and Essential also include industry-best factory data recovery so you can rest easy that your photos and footage are safe.
