PHOTONews Canada was honoured to sponsor the 2025 Fanshawe Student Image Competition and support the next generation of Canadian image-makers. As longtime advocates for photography education and growth, it was inspiring to witness the creativity, technical skill and storytelling these students brought to the table.
One of the evening’s memorable moments was the presentation of the High Score Black & White award to Alexandra Serrano for her powerful photograph, “Chasing the Dream: A Young Cyclist’s Journey.” Her image was not only technically exceptional but emotionally resonant, capturing the spirit of perseverance and youthful ambition. Seeing her receive the award beside her winning image was a reminder of why we continue to invest in these incredible students.
As part of our sponsorship, we were proud to contribute a ThinkTank camera bag and Hahnemühle Natural Line Premium inkjet papers, curated to support the ongoing development of students’ creative journeys.
The awards event, held on April 8th, 2025 at TAP Gallery in downtown London, was a true celebration of student talent. Finalists’ work was printed and beautifully displayed, offering guests a chance to connect with the images in person.
We want to thank the faculty and organizers at Fanshawe for putting together such a thoughtful, well-executed event. It was clear how much care and effort went into giving the students a platform to shine. We are proud to stand alongside them and other industry leaders in support of Canada’s future photographers.
