At broncolor, “Swiss precision” isn’t just a label—it’s our way of life. Every product we make is developed and manufactured right here in Switzerland. From intricate circuit boards to mechanical components and software programming, we keep it all in-house. Why? Because excellence doesn’t happen by outsourcing. It happens by paying attention to every detail, every step of the way. That’s how we ensure the consistent quality, reliability and innovation that photographers around the world have come to expect from broncolor.
A Global Brand with Local Care
With broncolor, you’re never far from support. Our gear is available for purchase or rental across Canada (and the world), backed by a network of partners who speak the language of lighting. And we don’t just sell gear—we stand by it. With authorized Canadian repair partners in Markham, Ontario and a robust inventory of spare parts, our service promise kicks in the moment you unbox your equipment. Designed with longevity and serviceability in mind, our products are built to last—not just for years, but for decades.
Design That Speaks Volumes
For us, good design goes beyond how something looks—it’s about how it works, feels and lasts. Our design team blends form with function, ensuring every product not only performs flawlessly but also enhances the creative process. It’s the art of problem-solving through precision and care.
Electronics, Engineered for Endurance
The heart of every broncolor product lies in its electronics and we don’t take that lightly. That’s why all circuit board production happens under our roof in Switzerland. Each board undergoes rigorous testing before moving forward—because performance starts from within.
Craftsmanship in Every Corner
From Pascal’s careful inspection of incoming materials to Christine’s pride in folding every Para reflector just right, broncolor’s commitment to craftsmanship is personal. “I want every customer to say, ‘Ohh, so beautiful’ when they open the box,” says Christine, a 15-year broncolor veteran. That level of care isn’t a slogan—it’s the standard.
Powered by Partnership
Long-standing relationships with trusted partners are the quiet power behind our consistency. We work closely with select global partners to uphold our exacting standards in colour, finish and durability. Because when quality is non-negotiable, every connection matters.
Tested to the Limit
Our gear doesn’t just look tough—it is. Each power pack endures more than 1,000 test flashes under varying power loads before it’s cleared for release. It’s how we ensure that broncolor products perform without fail, no matter how demanding the shoot.
Global Delivery, Swiss Precision
Whether it’s the high-performance Satos pack or a small spare part, every item passes through our Swiss warehouse, where Oliver and the logistics team ensure pristine condition on delivery. With over 60 authorized global distributors, broncolor gear gets where it needs to go—fast, safe and spotless.
A Legacy Built to Last
“It’s simple—people who enjoy their work, do better work,” says Jacques Bron, son of founder Pierre Bron. That philosophy has shaped our company culture for generations. We’re still family-owned and it shows in how we treat our people and our customers—with consistency, care and a commitment to the long game.
From 1948 to Forever: Our Story
broncolor’s roots trace back to 1948, when brothers Pierre and Joseph Bron launched Bron & Co. in Basel. What began with lens coating and X-ray systems soon evolved into studio lighting when they took over manufacturing of flash units in the early ’50s. In 1958, Pierre founded Bron Elektronik AG—the company that would eventually become broncolor as the world knows it.
Over the decades, broncolor has expanded globally, while keeping production anchored in Switzerland. In 1990, Pierre passed the torch to his son Jacques, who continues to guide the brand. Today, a third generation of the Bron family is involved, blending tradition with forward-thinking innovation. The result? A company where quality comes first and photographers are always at the heart of what we do.

I wish broncolor made merch clothing like profoto. I see profoto shooters all over and no one knows I have better lighting gear.
