Photo Challenge – The World Through My Lens – A Travel Themed Photography Contest

Photo Challenge - The World through my lens

PHOTO News Magazine, Canada’s largest circulated photo enthusiast magazine, has launched a very special travel-themed photo contest “The World Through My Lens” as a reader participation element of the magazine’s Image Hong Kong photography experience, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the magazine.

The PHOTO News “The World Through my Lens” contest is open to Canadian residents 18 and older. Entries opened April 2, 2016 and the contest will close Oct. 31, 2016.

Your assignment – to photograph the sights and scenes of your favourite destinations – your subjects could be as close as the view from your front porch or as far as the other side of the world… so grab your camera and get ready for a photo adventure!

The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Hong Kong, one of the world’s premier travel destinations, to enjoy the vibrant culture and exotic flavour of this amazing city, courtesy of Hong Kong Tourism Board, Cathay Pacific, The Langham Hong Kong, Nikon, Vanguard and PHOTO News. Second and Third Prize winners will receive a selection of prizes from the sponsors. All winning images will be published in the Winter 2016-17 issue of PHOTO News magazine.

To help photo enthusiasts create the very best travel images, a PHOTO News team comprising some of Canada’s top photographers travelled to Hong Kong to create a special travel photography feature for the magazine.

The special section will showcase the Hong Kong tourism experience through the lens of our PHOTO News team, providing readers with tips and samples of several approaches to travel photography that focus on four key aspects of the Hong Kong tourism experience: Attractions / Dining / Outdoor Scenes / Living Culture.

Our photographers were very impressed with their Hong Kong experience. This is what they have to say:

“I love Hong Kong because it stimulates all my senses. The glittering neon studded skyline, the delicious aromas, colourful temples and fascinating markets. It’s like three or four great cities rolled into one. I can’t wait for my next visit!”

“You could take pictures in Hong Kong 24 hours a day – and we certainly did! The Hong Kong skyline is spectacular – widely considered to be the finest in the world. The architecture stands in harmony with the surrounding mountains, with Victoria Harbour gleaming in the foreground.”

Jacques Dumont
