Most of us own a camera capable of capturing wonderful images. Most also have software applications or special gadgets that can apply countless effects to our images.

Landscape Photography - Any type of light can be used creatively as a source of illumination and inspiration. my vehicle's high beams were directed across this field, casting a shadow on the bale. Pentax 645, Pentax 45mm lens, Fuji Provia 100 slide film.

Photography is all about communicating. Ideas, inspiration, location or sales pitch, an image can often communicate where words flounder.

In Photoshop, with the blank filmstrips on the bottom layer and the image you want to combine on the top layer, simply change the Blend Mode to “Lighten”. The top layer image will only show up over areas that are dark on the bottom layer, in this case the filmstrips. It’s just that easy.

You old school photographers might remember having the experience of getting to frame 38 on a 36-exposure roll of film. Those who remember even further back – before auto film load and rewind – will perhaps also recall hand winding the exposed film back into its canister.
